The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has named a 22-man preliminary squad for two major upcoming events. These include the T20 tri-nation series with Pakistan and UAE, and the ACC Men’s Asia Cup. Star leg-spinner Rashid Khan will lead the team through both tournaments.

The squad will first attend a two-week training camp. After the camp, ACB will trim the team down to a final 15-player roster. The camp aims to help players adjust to conditions and finalize combinations ahead of the busy schedule.

The tri-nation T20 series will take place in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7. Afghanistan will begin their campaign against Pakistan on August 29. Each team will face the other twice before the final match, scheduled for September 7.

The series serves as a preparation event for the Asia Cup, which runs from September 9 to 28 in the UAE. It offers all three sides competitive practice before the continental tournament begins. The Asia Cup is expected to feature strong cricketing action.

Among the key names in the squad are Mohammad Nabi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Young talents like Sadiqullah Atal and Nangyal Kharoti also made the cut. The squad features a mix of experience and emerging players.

Pace options include Naveen-ul-Haq, Fareed Malik, and Bashir Ahmad. The ACB hopes this balanced lineup will deliver results in both series. Final squad announcements are expected soon after the training camp ends.
